The Burgess’s Latteridge Home
Edward William Burgess Baglin (1906-1969), the son of Gertrude Rosa Burgess (1874-1958) and father to Grace Russ (Grace Enid Baglin 1933-2006), took Grace and Gertrude Burgess back to Latteridge in the 1950's to see if the old farmhouse was still there; they were pleased to find it was, and that it was still in use. On their visit they met the occupiers and were shown around the house; and according to Gertrude Burgess it was just as she remembered it apart from a few modern improvements in the kitchen - she was delighted.
The Burgess family moved to Latteridge sometime between 23/05/1874 and 11/02/1875
11th February 1875, on the birth of their fourth daughter Maud Lilly Burgess George Burgess and his family were living at Latteridge near Iron Acton, Gloucestershire. Family members being:-

On the 23rd May 1874 when their third daughter (Gertrude Rosa Burgess) was born the Burgess family were living at Hillborough House, 106 Egerton Road, Horfiled, Bristol.
On 2nd December 1878 his second wife (Eliza Knight) died at Yatton, Somerset.
The family moved from Latteridge around 1900 but George moved back to Latteridge again by 12th June 1902 and was still living there on 12th June 1903 (He died 11th December 1905).
About 1900, George Burgess and family moved back to Hillborough House, 106 Egerton Road, Horfiled, Bristol.
By 12th June 1902 George Burgess had moved back to Latteridge and was still there on 12th June 1903 but was hoping to move back to Bristol soon. He died 11th December 1905.

More recent photos of Burgess family home in Latteridge, Iron Action. It show a recent single storey extension on the left and a barn conversion on the right. The original cottage being just the four windows and porch on the left with an attached two storey barn on the right.
This view shows more of the surroundings, with the old orchard being to the left (just off shot); Gertrude Rosa Burgess having mentioned the orchard to her granddaughter (Grace Enid Baglin) when she was telling Grace about her life as a child and young teenager growing up at Latteridge. According to the present occupant the old apple trees in the old orchard (of a species that was popular in the Victorian period but no longer popular and no longer cultivated) were felled and cleared just a few years ago.
